For Jazz Enthusiasts - Manolo Rodríguez Trío 'Buena Música' en el Centro Astoria- Bambi

The Manolo Rodríguez trio ‘Good Music’ will be playing at the Astoria-Bambi centre on Calle la Hoya in Puerto de la Cruz on the 24th of this month.

Born in Santa Cruz, Manolo Rodríguez has been playing the electric guitar since he was 18 years old and is a master of jazz improvisation. Together with Carlos Costa on bass guitar and Pepucho Hernández on drums, the Trio will be performing numbers from their acclaimed album ‘The Both Sides of the Coin’.

If you’re the sort of person who listens to improvised jazz and wonders when they’re going to stop tuning up and start playing, give it a wide berth. But if you’ve got an ear for some of the best avant-garde jazz rock to come out of Tenerife, you’re in for a treat.

Venue: Centro Astoria- Bambi, Puerto de la Cruz
Date: 24th January 2009
Time: 8.30 pm

New Year's Eve in El Médano

With shop windows full of figure hugging midnight blue and sexy svelte black numbers (and the women’s’ clothes aren’t bad either), it’s time to start thinking about that New Year’s Eve outfit and where to show it off.

Forget stuffy inside affairs, everybody knows the real New Year parties on Tenerife take place on the streets and where better to party al fresco than Tenerife’s coolest and most bohemian resort, El Médano.

The end of the year fiesta hits full swing from 23.30 in the main plaza with live sets from Orquesta Wamampy, La Deliciosa and Fortaleza and of course includes the ubiquitous midnight firework display.

Be there, or be square.

Northern Club Scene

Electronic House and Latin Music are introduced to each other at the first Festival Electro-Latino at the Republic Club in San Jerónimo, La Orotava. I suppose it depends how well they get on as to whether there’ll be a second festival.
DJs include Juan Magan, David Laurentini, Ray Castellano and Danger Beat & Kike Barroso, who’ll try their best to ensure clubbers get suitably hot and sweaty to their electric/Latino fusion ably assisted by some Latin Go-Go dancers.

Entrance: €20 (on the door €25)
Tickets available at:
Evolution (C.C. Al Campo, La Orotava); Doña (Puerto de la Cruz); Figaro (La Laguna); Tiendas Base, Doña, Exclusive, Duran Peluqueros (Santa Cruz)
